How much does it cost to become a member of the organisation?
£15 for an individual and £30.00 for a group

Is the subscription a one off fee or an annual payment?
An annual payment

How do you apply for membership?
You can send for a membership application form or download one from the website

What does the award consist of?
A plaque to be displayed at the entrance of your building.

Is there a self-assessment checklist for guidance?Yes; here is the basic list but for more details are on the website.

Have you a Health and Safety Certificate and Public Liability Insurance?
How will casual visitors find out when you are open?
Do you offer disabled facilities?
Do you provide any refreshments?
Is there a quiet area?
Do you provide information about your site / community?
Is there evidence of community links?
Are there toilet facilities

What happens if we are not able to satisfy the standard in all the assessment areas?
Failure in one area does not necessarily mean you will fail to achieve the award:  we will be looking for signs that you are actively planning to raise your standards in welcome and hospitality.

Where is the award presented?
At your own site.

 Who presents the award?
The plaque is presented by a member of our organisation or a notable member of the local community.

Can the award be taken away from an organisation?
The plaque is on loan and could be withdrawn if the standard isn’t maintained or the annual membership isn’t renewed.

Do accredited sites get a link to their own website?
Yes

Can I attend quarterly meetings?
Yes if your site is registered.  Membership entitles your organisation to be represented at the quarterly steering group meetings.

Are there trustees?
Yes the constitution allows for 5 trustees – there is one vacancy at present.

How is the organisation funded?
From membership subscriptions, donations and grants.

Cumbria, Lancashire, Cheshire, Greater Manchester, Liverpool & Merseyside, Wirral

Who supports the organisation?
So far we have the support of Lord Lloyd Webber, The North West Development Agency, Lancashire & Blackpool Tourism, Mersey Partnership &  VisitBritain and others.

Do you produce a news sheet?
Yes – quarterly.

Is the news sheet available on line?
Yes under the ‘News’ section.

Can I apply for membership on line?
You can download an application form.
